"Residence on Long Island Sound," Halper Owens Architects LLC

A beautiful new luxury home on the Long Island Sound, designed by Halper Owens Architects and built by Mayfair Construction of Greenwich, Connecticut.RESIDENCE ON LONG ISLAND SOUND, BY HALPER OWENS ARCHITECTS LLC | PHOTO: MAYFAIR CONSTRUCTION

This stunning residence, situated on two acres overlooking the Long Island Sound, was designed by Halper Owens Architects LLC and built by the master craftsmen of Mayfair Construction.  The home was "inspired by the free eclecticism of early-twentieth century architects, which combined English, French and American architectural elements freely."*

The elegant curved facade is one of the home's most unique features. "Exterior materials of stucco walls the color of wet sand, clay tile roof shingles, skirl siding, and old moss fieldstone veneer, were selected to create a timeless and grounded palette."*

The back of this beautiful new luxury home is lined with huge windows and french doors. A multitude of windows and french doors line the back of the house in order to let in an abundance of natural light and, of course, provide access to panoramic views of the Long Island Sound.*

The swimming pool and terrace are sited on the side of the structure so as not to obstruct or detract from the stunning views.*

"Interiors are light and airy with hand worked plaster walls, hand planed white oak floors and restrained classically detailed millwork." These elements, combined with the use of carefully chosen decor in almost a minimalistic manner, create a slight sense of modernity inside the home.*

The staircase is not only graceful, but so interesting with its fluid lines; this is superb work by Halper Owens Architects LLC and Mayfair Construction.*

Charged with creating a house stylistically different from the ubiquitous shingle style and colonials throughout Fairfield County, the architecture is inspired by the free eclecticism of early-twentieth century architects, which combined English, French and American architectural elements freely. Located on two waterfront acres in one of Connecticut’s most picturesque towns, this six bedroom 7,500 square foot residence was completed in the summer of 2009.
