"The work of Polhemus Savery DaSilva beautifully melds the traditions of New England with the way we live today, affirming that an architecture of place trumps an architecture preoccupied with passing trends." When an iconic figure like Robert A. M. Stern, Dean of the Yale School of Architecture, praises his colleagues in so gracious a manner, clearly the houses they design (and in this case, also build) must be superb. Take one look at Polhemus Savery DaSilva's portfolio and you'll surely agree with Mr. Stern's assessment.

In 2007, the firm completed the lovely "House at Harding Shores Overlook" (above*), located in Chatham, Massachusetts. The unassuming facade of the house belies its true size. "The design is one-and-a-half stories at the front but three stories at the back, where large expanses of windows and porches on each level take advantage of the stunning views."

The house is "surrounded to the southeast, south, and southwest by a welcoming porch," and clusters of lavender, blush and blue hydrangeas, which perfectly complement this classic beach house.*

The clean lines of the design make the house feel "simultaneously traditional and modern." Notice the photo above, which provides a glimpse inside the home. It's filled with thoughtful, yet far from fussy, architectural details, like built-in bookshelves and cabinets, a stone fireplace and beautiful ceilings.*
