In 2007, the firm completed the lovely "House at Harding Shores Overlook" (above*), located in Chatham, Massachusetts. The unassuming facade of the house belies its true size. "The design is one-and-a-half stories at the front but three stories at the back, where large expanses of windows and porches on each level take advantage of the stunning views."

The house is "surrounded to the southeast, south, and southwest by a welcoming porch," and clusters of lavender, blush and blue hydrangeas, which perfectly complement this classic beach house.*

The clean lines of the design make the house feel "simultaneously traditional and modern." Notice the photo above, which provides a glimpse inside the home. It's filled with thoughtful, yet far from fussy, architectural details, like built-in bookshelves and cabinets, a stone fireplace and beautiful ceilings.*

at POLHEMUS SAVERY DASILVA ARCHITECTS BUILDERS

Polhemus Savery DaSilva’s client for this house had an image of a nearby house that was an early 20th century cape modified to suit a waterfront site by the addition of a wrap-around porch. They wanted their house to be inspired by that same image, and it became a model for the design. Unfortunately the historic house is now gone, but its spirit lives on.
